Code of conduct
Last updated: 31 October 2026
Who we are
Cogvivo (cogvivo.com) is a video platform where people share photos and videos. It is made and run by Tim Wijnands, as a private individual, in the Netherlands. Contact: info@cogvivo.com. The regulator for video platforms in the Netherlands is the Dutch Media Authority (Commissariaat voor de Media).
Our goals
- Protect minors from videos and contact that are harmful to them.
- Protect everyone from hate, violence and illegal content.
- Be clear about what we remove, why, and how you can appeal.
- Keep advertising recognisable.
What is not allowed
- Images of child sexual abuse, and anything that sexualises children.
- Pornography and other sexual content.
- Gratuitous or graphic violence, and calls for violence or terrorism.
- Hate against people for who they are, such as their origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation or disability.
- Bullying, threats and intimidation.
- Encouraging self-harm.
- Dangerous challenges, and anything else that is illegal.
What we do
- Checks up front: photos and videos go through an automatic check before they go online. Captions and your own text are checked too.
- Reporting: a duel has a Report button. You can report anything else via info@cogvivo.com, also without an account. A person reviews duel reports, those about minors first.
- Explanation: if we remove something, you get a message with the reason. You can appeal, and then a person looks at it.
- Blocking: you can block someone. You then no longer see each other and running duels stop.
- Police: if we suspect a serious crime, we alert the police.
Minors
- The minimum age is 13, or higher if the law of a country requires it. Some countries are for adults only.
- Below the age of consent in your country (16 in the Netherlands), a parent confirms your account.
- Until 18 your profile is private and only friends can comment.
- Minors play random duels only against minors of about their age, without chat. Only other minors and their friends see their duel videos.
- Playing with a much older friend or family member is only possible if both agree through an invitation.
- Minors get no personalised ads. We use their age only to prevent that, never to target advertising at them.
Advertising
- Cogvivo's ads are separate from the videos and carry the word "Ad".
- Does your own video contain advertising, or were you paid for it? Then tick the box when you post it, and "Contains advertising" appears on your video.
- No advertising for gambling, alcohol, tobacco or other products that do not suit an audience with young people.
If someone breaks the rules
- We remove the video or text.
- After reports or blocks by minors, someone cannot play random duels for 90 days.
- For repeated or serious violations we block the account.
Evaluation
Every year we check whether this code works: how many reports there were, what we did with them and what must improve. We publish that evaluation on this page, the first by 31 October 2027 at the latest. Users and parents can always share their views via info@cogvivo.com, and we take their responses into account.
Not satisfied?
Email us, or appeal from the message you received. If we cannot resolve it, you can turn to the Dutch Media Authority. For questions about your data, you can also go to the Dutch Data Protection Authority.
